Hi, I am aware that the gettext feature will be included in the future release of Stellarium, but I an wondering will Stellarium display the translations correctlly? Currently Stellarium display fonts detrived from a png image - fonts on the image(s) will not likely to contain anything other than Latin alphabets.

Stellarium should be able to display by using system fonts. Is 0.8 doing that?

Hi,

Yes, as far as I can tell, the 0.8.0 version should display them correctly. The CVS version uses its own TTF fonts already (and it has Unicode support). The display is still not perfect, though, since some of the labels are clipped at the bottom and on the right.

Wow, Thanks. I know nothing about the code in CVS so I coundn't see it myself. Thank you for the info. Timdream 02:56, 11 April 2006 (PDT)

Hey, I have download the 0.8 and it was great! But the font comes with the package (DejaVuSans.ttf) doesn't contain CJK characters so all words had become squares.

My solution is to download a GPL font (cwyen.ttf) from here that is intend to used in cwTeX. after setting base_font_name = cwyen.ttf it works and shows translation beautifully!

Shall we start to working on translating Docs on the wiki? Where should we place the pages? I can't wait to get started. Introduce Stellarium to the world!

(The following explains how to display Chinese characters currectlly in Traditional Chinese.)

None of the fonts introduced above could display Greek alphabets correctly, ie. α~ω. --Gsklee 09:18, 7 May 2006 (PDT)
Fonts found in here can correctly working with the program along with Greek alphabets. Credits to Mr. 王漢宗 (seventeen@linux.org.tw). --Gsklee 03:18, 8 May 2006 (PDT)

Thanks Gsklee! I'll give it a try. Timdream 20:38, 9 May 2006 (PDT)

I set Korean font and everything looks fine, but that the 'help' menu shows only title in Korean, others in boxes. What should I check ...? Ovthrz 06:40, 17 May 2006 (PDT)

That is a bug. The same problem also happens to Chinese and Japanese Locale... -- Gsklee 20:04, 18 May 2006 (PDT)
I guess the reason why the 'help' menu does not appear properly is that it uses courierFont to line up. Isn't there any other way ...? Ovthrz 14:12, 7 December 2006 (PST)
Yes, stellarium use fixed font(default is DejaVuSansMono.ttf) in Help Window and some number symbols. If you want to change font which to use, then add base_cfont_name to [gui] section in configure.ini and set its value to your font name. --Sigma 21:32, 7 December 2006 (PST)
